Education
B.A. from Vassar College, 2002; I received my degree in Music with a minor in Classics. Undergraduate credits from Harvard University, where I studied poetry and philosophy. J.D. with honors from The University of Texas at Austin, 2005. While in law school, I focused on intellectual property and criminal law. After law school, I spent several years clerking for an appellate court (writing and editing).
Experience
I spent the last two years tutoring. I generally taught students one-on-one, but sometimes I worked with as many as four students at a time. Among other subjects, I tutored students in: SAT/ACT prep, ESL, essay writing, editing, SSAT, AP (Literature, English, U.S. History, World History, Human Geography), SAT Subject Tests (Literature, U.S. History, World History), Reading Comprehension, and math (elementary to high school geometry). I took the ACT in December 2016 and got a 34 (English: 35; Reading: 36; Science: 32; Math: 33). The years I've spent tutoring have been some of the most fulfilling of my life. I love working with students and helping them improve their skills and grades. I'm also a licensed attorney. Although I no longer practice, I appreciate the logical skills and reasoning that I learned as an attorney.

Hobbies
I love games of all kinds, from bridge to Minecraft (I've actually found Minecraft to be an excellent tool to help students open up and apply academic skills to a subject they're excited about). I also love travel and exploring other cultures: I am from the United States but now live in Sweden, and have visited many other European countries and Japan. Shakespeare is another passion of mine. My favorite of his plays is Hamlet, and I also love his sonnets. I love poetry in general; besides Shakespeare, some of my other favorites are Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes, Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, and T.S. Eliot.
