Education

I graduated in 2008 from Hamilton College with a BA in Philosophy and English (Creative Writing).

I also have a CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Cambridge University, administered in 2010 from the Instituto Britanico in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Currently, I am acquiring the necessary prerequisites to continue my pedagogical training at Stockholms universitet.

Since I have received multiple requests: I am not qualified to offer Swedish tutoring at this point in time.

Experience

From the age of 18 to 26, I was employed (on an on-again, off-again/seasonal basis) as a tour guide in a show cave. Among other things, this job entailed working with children on a daily basis.

I spent two years as an EFL instructor in private South Korean after-school academies ("hagwons"). My students ranged in age from 6 to 12. While there, I also volunteered as an EFL instructor for adult North Korean refugees.

Since my arrival in Stockholm I have been engaged as a private tutor to a variety of students, ranging in age from 4 years to adults.

Hobbies

I have a wide range of hobbies that occupy my time when I'm not working! I read a lot, first and foremost, in nearly every genre. However, I have a special fondness for "hard' science fiction, undiscovered/unsung classics as well as "the canon," media and literary critique, and popular science. I'll also read the back of a shampoo bottle or cereal box in a pinch. ;) I also write a lot in my spare time, both fiction and nonfiction.

I also enjoy studying foreign languages (to date I have studied, to greater and lesser extents, French, German, Russian, and Korean, in addition to Swedish), making jewelry, and playing video games.
